Mantell’s Early Life and Times in Lewes: repeat of walk 1

Walk No1 Mantell’s Early Life and Times in Lewes” has gone now.

This walk is based on Mantell’s visit to Lewes on 29th June 1846 which he described in his publication A Days Ramble In and Around the County Town of Lewes. In this book he shows how the town has changed since his birth in 1790. He notes how it looked in his childhood while at St Mary’s Lane and during his working life in the town when a local doctor living at Castle Place.  Come along on the walk to hear his  observations about the social and economic life of the town and how this brings those times to life through his words.

The walk takes around 1 and half hours and involves some hills.
